Description
Either you are a fan of the brand looking to buy a fine Swiss watch or you are a collector searching for a remarkable model, you definitively need to analyze this exquisite piece of the Monaco series, because it has the number XXXX of 1200 ever made, being an ACM Automobile Club de Monaco Limited edition model. Sounds interesting enough? Just wait to discover its many strengths.
This watch is the product of the celebration of the powerful relationship between Tag Heuer and the Automobile Club de Monaco, homage of what a fair sport competition means: audacity, fair play and the satisfaction of the thing well done.
It has the strong beating heart of the Calibre 12 automatic mechanical chronograph with a Sellita base movement, a self-winding automatic movement that offers 40 hours of power reserve and is tested for 100 meters water resistance.
The 39mm brushed with polished steel case accommodates a black dial that is the pure representation of the strong liaison between sports and a timekeeper by excellence. The date window is positioned at 6 o`clock and right above you will see the representative crest of the “Automobile Club de Monaco”, the organizer of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and of the Monte Carlo rally. The chromatic is simply great: the black dial is the perfect background for the two silver sub dials with “Gras de boisé” finishing positioned at 9 and 3 o`clock and the orange chronograph hands with rhodium plated and luminescent hour and minute hands. So besides the basic timekeeping functions, this watch counts the elapsed minutes and seconds. The hour markers are also luminescent, so, apart from being a cool design feature, they contribute to make this watch legibility flawless. The two sub dials have the same square shape of the case, so the design is fluent and assures a great visual effect. It`s a good looking piece that brings to life a cult-classic, the vintage Monaco, and gives us the opportunity to own an upgraded piece of history.
The case has a thickness of 14.2 mm and is covered is a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal. On its back we will find the “Limited edition“ mark and we can take our time to admire the Swiss made mechanism through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back. A beautiful symmetry is created between the design and the mechanism, as two equally important parts of a watch branded by such a distinguished watchmaker.
The motor racing allure breaths all over the dial and reminds us of many brave Tag Heuer ambassadors such as Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda or Alain Prost, driving legends that are to perpetuity bond to the Monaco series. And although Carrera series enriches year by year with many exciting new models, Monaco somehow manages to attract more and more enthusiasts and buyers. It is because you can almost feel the tension, the need for speed and the cheers of the spectators when looking at this special dial.
The sportiveness look is replenished by the black perforated leather strap with deployment buckle that feels soft on the wrist and underlines the case uniqueness.
When facing a stunning reinterpretation of an iconic timepiece, Tag Heuer is the master of slightly changing a watch appearance by adding some modern and functional design and technical features but, in the same time, keeping the vintage charm unspoiled and making each model of the series seem singular and yet part of a legendary collection.
