Description
Panerai Luminor 1950 Flyback is a classically stylish diving watch that enjoys the brand’s pure aesthetics. Its lasting vintage design doesn’t have too many distracting features. This simple chronograph is all about functionality. The flyback function and the automatic movement with a three days power reserve are just a few of its highlights.
The rose gold version of this model is the first one to be manufactured by Panerai with the new in-house P.9100 calibre, a remarkable mechanism designed and created entirely by the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel. This automatic movement comes with the very much appreciated flyback function which is controlled by the button located at eight o’clock. When this button is pushed, the chronograph hand returns to zero in an instant and the chronograph feature is also restarted. The innovation of the flyback feature is that it is no longer necessary to have two buttons- one for stopping the chronograph and one for resetting it.
The Panerai Luminor 1950 Flyback Oro Rosso has a surprisingly easy to read dial. Both the chronograph and seconds hands are located on the center of the main dial, but are differentiated by using different colors. The minute hand is gold color while the second hand is blue. The attractiveness of the core Panerai aesthetics is enabled by using a distinctive layout for it black dial. At the cardinal points there are the iconic simple bar hour markers and numerals while at 3 o’clock there is the date window and at 9 o’clock the small seconds dials.
This model was a unique dial structure created by Panerai back in 1930 which is supposed to offer an improved legibility even in poor lightning conditions. This unique dial structure includes two superimposed plates. The superior one has been perforated where the markers are to enable a higher luminescence of the Super-LumiNova® features.
The case of the Panerai Luminor 1950 Flyback measures 44 mm in diameter and it has been designed to withstand pressure associated with water depths of 50 meters. The 12 sided caseback of the watch features a sapphire crystal that allows its wearer to admire the magnificent P.9100 movement. This model comes with a brown alligator strap which complements the overall vintage design of the timepiece.
The aesthetics of this watch are defining for Officine Panerai. It is a distinctively classic look that has been played with and interpreted in many ways, but nevertheless this new Chronograph version is amazingly appealing and modern. It has that particular aesthetic consistency that has ensured the brand’s success for more than a decade.
