Description
The renewed Tag Heuer Monaco watch surprises its fans with two different identities. The first one is a bold, revolutionary and modern dimension meant for the younger customers whereas the second one is a more traditional and mature personality that targets collectors and connoisseurs. The watch is a nice addition to the Monaco line designed to remind us that the brand possesses an impressive legacy and unique watchmaking skills.
The dial of the watch is complex, but surprisingly easy to read. The elegant matte black surface of the dial makes a nice contrast with the circularly disposed silver applied hour markers and minutes indexes. The 12 o’clock hour baton features a red line in the center. At 3 o’clock there is a 60 seconds sub-dial, at 6 o’clock there are a date window and a 12 hours counter, and at 9 o’clock there is a 30 minutes sub-dial. The overall look of the dial suggests performance, modernism and boldness.
The iconic squared case of the Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 measures 40.5 mm and is made from fine-brushed and polished steel. The polished steel winding crown is located on the right side and it features raised polished TAG Heuer shield and a red line. Also on the right of the case, above and under the winding crown, there are two silver buttons that operate the chronograph. The watch is also an excellent choice for divers and water sports enthusiasts as it is water resistant to 100 meters.
The representative feature of the Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 is the in-house Swiss made Calibre 12. This automatic movement measures 30 mm, has 59 rubies, a rapid date correction feature and a 40 hours power reserve. Besides its remarkable time telling performances, this automatic Calibre also offers small seconds at 3 o’clock, a date window, chronograph minutes counter and a central chronograph seconds. Furthermore, the timepiece comes with a black textured calf leather strap that has a steel folding clasp with safety push-buttons.
The fantastic aesthetic appeal of this Tag Heuer is part of its charm. The breath-taking black dial adorned with silver and red accents, the squared case and the distinctive racing inspired counters are its main assets, the main reasons why it is considered one of the most elegant reinterpretations of the classic Monaco model.
